Certain conditions & deformities in the limbs leads to accelerated degeneration & arthritis at the concerned joints; which leads to debilitating quality of life at a relatively young age where joint replacement is not an option. Joint preservation here is the goal of the treatment in such cases. Here combination of various modalities; non surgical or surigical like arthroscopic debridement; repairs & also deformity corrections by various osteotomies (breaking of bones & realigning them) at desired level is done to decrease stresses at joint level. High tibial osteotomy is one of the common surgery done for knee arthritis with deformity in young age to delay the requirement of total knee replacement. Other procedures like correcting varoius elbow & knee deformities in childrens & adolescent age groups are also undertaken.
